Launched in 2020, Recess is one of the fastest-growing fitness platforms and marketplaces, featuring 7,000+ top workouts from around the world. From HIIT and strength training to yoga and mindfulness to boxing and spinning, Recess hosts quality, committed instructors and exercise routines for any skill level. Livestream classes and pre-recorded workouts are available 24/7 and range from $10 a class to $75 monthly memberships.

Recess.tv is also the only platform built by instructors for instructors, with health insurance options and entrepreneurial support to help build their businesses and brands.  Founded by former executives from Apple, Deloitte, GE, Twitter & Classpass; with an advisor team of C-Suite executives from Headspace, Amazon, Tinder, Bumble, Philosophy, WeWork, Bling Capital, Google, Lego, Meta and Spotify.

Recess.tv came to us looking for help telling their story to gain investment & grow their business. Prior to starting with us, Recess.tv had been primarily been focused on building from the technology side and had gone through a series of different contractors and team members on the marketing & brand side — which had created a disjointed internal & customer ecosystem.

We provided Fractional Executive Support (CMO, CXO, CPO) & Full-Service Agency Team — Increasing overall revenue, platform adoption & investment. Together we defined stronger marketing operations & built out a brand culture that built trust and loyalty internally as well as with investors; while also growing their business with new instructors, customers and team.

After they had previously been struggling to get investment, we exceed their raise goals, getting over $6M after working with our team for 3 weeks.

From there, we onboarded our full agency team & experts to flesh out and begin achieving Recess.tv’s goals. We worked with the Recess.tv team for over a year to improve their internal & external brand marketing operations and communications.  Informing our process through internal & brand audits, facilitation workshops, A/B testing, market research, investor/advisor/instructor interviews and more. 

Our team helped to build out SOPs & internal culture shifts that allowed Recess to effectively optimize the work of their existing teams as well as build-out and grow their team  to 3x it’s original size — significantly reducing onboarding time and setting up new team members with the decision-making maps needed to be successful by the end of our contract. 

In tangent with internal changes, we supported the build-out of brand optics, comms  and processes the helped Recess to increase the number of instructors on their platform by over 9x — which in turn increased revenue by almost 30x their original numbers by the close of our contract.

We started working with them on our investor decks, which was oversubscribed. Kana's ability to take the story and put it into a concise, easy-to-digest, and catching deck was instrumental in our raise. <That work led to us engaging DMC for nearly a year on all aspects of marketing. Kana and Jane are great strategists who can come in and assess all pieces of your marketing department from social to emails to growth.
