When we first met Blenders & Bowls that had just launched their first Brick & mortar location downtown and were looking for a parter to lead a rebrand that would help them meet their expansion goals as well as provide marketing & creative support for the entire phygital customer experience. From Packaging, to in-store murals, decor, merch, menus, street signage, event pop-ups, ecommerce, content production & more.

Including restaurant space design and execution — our team designed and executed on all the murals and signage for Blenders & Bowls inside their West Lake, Downtown and Eastside cafés and our branding continues to be used as they expand. This expansive project involved many rewarding hours of painting and woodworking.

It’s always great to bring one of our logo designs into the 3-dimensional world! The mural design is inspired by the owner’s California roots and their original food truck, which featured the same pattern as the van in the mural.

After they had previously been struggling to get investment, we exceed their raise goals, getting over $6M after working with our team for 3 weeks.

From there, we onboarded our full agency team & experts to flesh out and begin achieving Recess.tv’s goals. We worked with the Recess.tv team for over a year to improve their internal & external brand marketing operations and communications.  Informing our process through internal & brand audits, facilitation workshops, A/B testing, market research, investor/advisor/instructor interviews and more. 

Our team helped to build out SOPs & internal culture shifts that allowed Recess to effectively optimize the work of their existing teams as well as build-out and grow their team  to 3x it’s original size — significantly reducing onboarding time and setting up new team members with the decision-making maps needed to be successful by the end of our contract. 

In tangent with internal changes, we supported the build-out of brand optics, comms  and processes the helped Recess to increase the number of instructors on their platform by over 9x — which in turn increased revenue by almost 30x their original numbers by the close of our contract.

The Recess.tv team came to us because their existing design lacked the modern flair and creative direction needed to highlight their cutting edge product.  They received feedback that their existing direction “felt a bit juvenile” which investors felt was a bit too on the nose.

Blenders & Bowls is the product two lifelong best friends, Erin and Kara, and their shared love of smoothie bowls.

In 2010, these adventurous and free-spirited women moved from Hawaii to Austin. It didn’t take long for them to fall hard for the “live music capital of the world,” but something was missing — açaí — the Brazilian superfruit that they came to love in Hawaii because it made them feel amazing!

What started as a mean craving for an açaí bowl led to the creation of Blenders and Bowls. It was only a few short months between idea and creation. In a rush to share the flavor of açaí with Austin, Erin and Kara opened Blenders and Bowls as a healthy mobile food truck. It was a big hit! Within 10 years, Blenders and Bowls grew from that single food truck to five brick and mortar shops.

Now, Blenders & Bowls is a household name in Austin, Texas! They didn’t stop there! Erin and Kara now have the freezer version of their product hitting frozen sections of grocery stores nationwide!
